From the show:
Not to be confused with, and very much unlike The Emoji Movie, Emojiland is an electric ensemble piece about a diverse community of archetypes who take one another at face value: a smiling face dealing with depression; a princess who doesn’t want a prince; a skull dying for deletion; a nerd face too smart for his own good; a face with sunglasses who can’t see past his own reflection; and a police officer and construction worker who just want to work together. When a software update threatens to destroy life as they know it, Emojiland faces the most fundamental questions a society – and a heart – can face: Who are we? And who matters?
See it if you’re supportive of new work that doesn’t re-purpose already existing pop songs.
Don't see it if you yearn for a cohesive plot or characters to care about. A game cast cannot compensate for the lack of these critical elements.
See it if You want a comedic take on what those pesky emoji’s would be doing if they had a mind of their own.
Don't see it if You don’t enjoy absurd musicals or live bands or prefer deeper, thought provoking productions.
See it if You love the performers or want some lighthearted entertainment. Also if you’re willing to overlook some writing and tech flaws.
Don't see it if You want more moving or emotional subject matter.
See it if you spend more time looking at your phone than talking to people and love to go to bad pop concerts and like mindless fluff
Don't see it if you want to see a great musical with great singing, dancing or music...or if you are annoyed by young pop concerts.
See it if you want a fun night at the theater with a hilarious cast, impressive vocals (Lucas Steele), creative costumes and staging.
Don't see it if lighthearted fun is not your idea of fun.
See it if you enjoy bright, campy musicals with some real showcase numbers and a light plot. Princess, Nerd Face, and Construction Worker stood out.
Don't see it if you want a tight, surprising plot. The show is a little long, and not every moment shines. If you don't like puns, there are many of them.
See it if you love camp, original musicals, for the actors, unique costuming, or shows with a lot of heart
Don't see it if you want something more serious, puns, sensitive to bright and flashing lights and lasers, or themes/lyrics based on pop culture
See it if Emojiland is a funny show that parodies the current politics and what can happen if we lock out the rest of the world.
Don't see it if If you’re not a fan of parodies or think we should build a wall around our country, you probably won’t enjoy it.
See it if you want characters who make you laugh, and a story that makes you think. The tone is reminiscent of Avenue Q. The show is entertaining.
Don't see it if you prefer to see serious topics handled with gravity. The treatment is a bit fluffy, and it's aimed at an audience of young adults.
See it if you enjoy fun stylized musicals (like Little Shop of Horrors) done by brilliant singers, enjoy laser effects, want something fun and light.
Don't see it if you don't like musicals or comedies, only like traditional Broadway shows, want deep meaning in a show, don't like small intimate theaters.
See it if you're looking for a really fun night, you have been through a few generations of emojis, you want to hear some amazing singing and songs
Don't see it if you don't do silly, you hate cliches, you can't handle lasers/lights/haze/etc, you're looking for something super profound/life-changing
See it if you enjoy seeing great performances by seasoned Broadway actors with fun and light materials
Don't see it if you want a serious musical - it's light comedy....but a lot of laughs and very well produced
See it if you want a cotton candy show: bright, colorful, fun to eat, but has no nutritional value. Regardless, a great time!
Don't see it if you're expecting anything remotely serious.
See it if You want to be pleasantly surprised by the depth of emoji emotions, and some clever lines, and catchy songs.
Don't see it if You hate emojis, pop culture, bathroom humor, or expect a a show with fully drawn out characters.
See it if you looking to have some fun! I wasn't expecting to enjoy this show as much as I did. "Fun" is the key element here.
Don't see it if a bit of stunt casting which almost derails the show might irk you. This performer's number and delivery are the weakest part of the show.
See it if You really like funny musical theater. This show is super cute and was nice to watch. The singing was good, the story was really interesting
Don't see it if You are looking for a more serious show or a highly polished show with lots of sets and transitions.
See it if You enjoy "relevant" and funny/silly entertainment with terrific singers. Very clever writers and great staging.
Don't see it if you don't care for original (sometimes silly) music and songs with simple but clever staging.
