A comedic opera about the confusing nature of love.

Donizetti’s beloved comic opera features some of the world's most celebrated bel canto singers as the opportunistic landowner and the hapless peasant in search of love.

Sopranos Golda Schultz and Aleksandra Kurzak alternate as Adina, sharing love and coming into conflict with tenors Javier Camarena and Xabier Anduaga, in his Met debut, as Nemorino. Italian maestro Michele Gamba also makes his company debut conducting Bartlett Sher’s bold staging, which features baritones Davide Luciano and Joshua Hopkins as the swaggering Sgt. Belcore and baritone Ambrogio Maestri and bass-baritone Alex Esposito as the lovable huckster Dr. Dulcamara.

See it if you like an opera with lots of humor and wonderful melodic arias and music. Great cast and nice set.I recommend this opera for first timers.

See it if Boy likes girl and tells her. Girl likes boy and pretends otherwise. A snake oil salesman brings them together on accident. It's funny af.

Don't see it if Honestly, it's the most FUN opera I've ever seen. If you need a tragic end, this won't scratch that itch, but it's fun start to finish.

See it if an opera romcom! lighthearted with great singing & simple plot; psychology of love playing out with a conman interloping; no one dies!

Don't see it if you don't like opera; you have trouble following foreign languages & don't want to read subtitles (read a summary of the plot beforehand)..
