Cold-case investigation unfolds through a hybrid of dance, theatre, and fractured memory.
Set within an unresolved crime reopened after twelve years, Scorched Earth follows a detective re-examining an old case rooted in questions of land, legacy, and personal conflict. As the investigation revisits conflicting accounts, the detective and the primary suspect move through shifting layers of recollection, imagination, and unresolved tension.
Inspired by John B. Keane’s The Field, the production blends elements of crime drama and psychological inquiry with movement-based storytelling. The creative team includes director, choreographer, and performer Luke Murphy, with design by Alyson Cummins, lighting by Stephen Dodd, and music by Rob Moloney, reuniting collaborators from the multi-award-winning Volcano.
