A Portuguese immigrant, storyteller, and sleight-of-hand magician, Helder Guimarães arrives in America at age 29 and confronts the cultural and professional challenges of building a new home. Drawing on his own experiences, the solo production combines autobiographical storytelling with magic and follows Guimarães as he works to establish himself in the United States.

The production is written and performed by Helder Guimarães, whose previous Geffen Playhouse credits include Invisible Tango, The Present, and The Future. It is directed and produced by Frank Marshall, the Academy Award-winning producer and director whose film credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Sixth Sense, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Marshall and Guimarães have previously collaborated on Invisible Tango, The Present, and The Future.

The New York City Center production features scenic design by François-Pierre Couture, lighting design by Martha Carter, sound design by James Grabowski, music by composer Jeff Beal, and dramaturgy by Amy Levinson. The production runs 90 minutes without intermission and is presented as a strictly limited Off-Broadway engagement at City Center Stage II.
