A Yiddish musical about the Holocaust, and the resilience and hope of those who lived through it.
This brand-new musical explores the enduring resilience of the Jewish people during the Holocaust through Yiddish melodies. Curated and arranged by Zalmen Mlotek, with a libretto by Avram Mlotek, and directed by Motl Didner, this musical encompasses a wide range of compositions originating from ghettos, cabarets, partisan hideouts in the woods, concentration camps, and secret theaters. Amid Falling Walls (Tsvishn Falndike Vent) incorporates firsthand accounts from Holocaust survivors, expressed through their own poetic verses and melodies. Although tragically, many of the gifted young individuals in their twenties and thirties who created this remarkable work fell victim to the atrocities of World War II, their songs are revived in this groundbreaking theatrical endeavor. This production stands as a unique testament, capturing the true essence of resistance and hope through the authentic words and music of those who experienced it firsthand.
