Benevolent is a fierce and compelling drama set in 1917, following four young women confined to New York’s Inwood Benevolent Home, a harsh reformatory for girls considered fallen or without family support. Forced to endure exhausting work in the basement laundry, the women form unexpected bonds as they navigate the strict and unforgiving environment around them.

When one of the women finds herself facing a difficult situation, their newfound solidarity is put to the test. They must confront how much they are willing to sacrifice and risk to protect one another. Fierce, witty, and unflinching, Benevolent explores the strength of female friendship, the bonds formed in difficult circumstances, and the ways solidarity can both empower and fracture those who depend on it.
