Group.BR presents a site-specific, fully immersive and participatory theatrical experience that transports audiences directly inside the world of celebrated 20th-century Brazilian author Clarice Lispector’s fiction. More…
The performance takes place in a house setting where the audience can walk freely from room to room, following the performers and interacting with the environment. Each room is an art installation inspired by an element in Lispector's writing. 'Inside the Wild Heart' integrates visual arts, film, music, and performance to embody the writer’s deepest feelings. It allows audiences to be active participants rather than passive spectators, and encourages them to engage them with literature on a sensory level.
"This avant-garde show is fully immersive theatre, with six actors bringing nine vignettes of Lispector’s work to life in an artist’s loft...The standout of the night was the burlesque-esque dancer Carolina de Oliveira in a semi-sheer bodysuit and men’s black trench coat who tantalized the audience with passionate modern dance and a touchless tango with Ricardo Burgos...Serving wine to guests would have enhanced the experience." See it if U like immersive theater. This was fun and reminded me of nightclubs in the 90's. Different rooms, difference scenes & acts. It's fun!!!
Don't see it if U need a seat, need to understand the language or don't wanna read!!
See it if You like immersive theatre and don't need a linear plot.
Don't see it if You don't enjoy moving around a performance space or are not able to negotiate stairs in the space.
See it if you want an immersive, performance experience in Portuguese & English with English supertitles, & if you can let yourself go on the ride
Don't see it if you need plot, storyline,& theatre seats, or dislike performance art or immersive experiences,
See it if are a fan of Clarice Lispector, appreciate expressive performances (though unclear to what end), and enjoy avant garde, artsy theater
Don't see it if you don't like participatory, immersive productions. Don't expect a storyline. Dialogue largely in Portuguese (with subtitles on screens)
See it if You love the book and clarice lispector
Don't see it if If you don't know the book and author and speak or understand English only it can be confusing, it was hard to hear with actors to close
See it if you like immersive theatre and/or Viewpoints compositions. Not a lot of coherence here, but entertaining all the same.
Don't see it if you don't like being in direct contact with the theatre you see. Or if you don't like reading subtitles.
See it if you like artsy, avant-garde shows, modern dance, and immersive theater. Helps a lot if you speak Portuguese and English.
Don't see it if you expect linear plot. The space and the cast size are lot smaller than many other immersive shows in NYC such as Sleep No More.
See it if You want an extended performance piece. You want to get lost in an abstract environment where you don't always know what's going on.
Don't see it if You want a linear story. You want a clear understanding of that story. Most of the dialogue is Portuguese & it's not an easy story to get.
See it if You want to try to relive the days of the surrealists and avant garde artists and have a lot of patience/ tolerance for self indulgence
Don't see it if You want to know what to do in interactive theatre or some direction. You want a linear show in a traditional theatre
See it if Go see it if you like to get deep into the theatre experience. If you love pure theatre performance and dance. If you love art installations
Don't see it if You are affraid of confronting yourself
See it if You like to be in direct contact with the action. You will definitely be inside Clarice Lispector's mind and disturbance of her thoughts.
Don't see it if you are afraid to take risks as an audience. If you are afraid to experience theater at a deeper level.
See it if You want to experience an immersive style of performance. As audience we were free to explore and take in the story on our own terms.
Don't see it if You prefer to sit and have a linear story unfold before you
