Resonant, Edgy, Great acting, Thought-provoking, Relevant

See it if You want to see a show that feels very “ripped from the headlines” with its relevance to school shootings. Well acted. Edge of seat stuff.

Don't see it if You’re easily triggered by gun stuff. This is not violent or realistic but they’re very clever in how they manage to “simulate” their ideas.

Thought-provoking, Quirky, Indulgent, Hilarious, Ambitious

See it if you've attended mandatory irrelevant work training. Enjoy how far outside the box your mind could have gone while you weren't listening.

Don't see it if you find farce irritating. Having many points of view means none of the ideas can be more than surface.

Missing a "hook"?, Relevant, Solid acting, Innovative direction and staging, Entertaining

See it if a show which attempts to deal with employees' feelings of exploitation intrigues you

Don't see it if you need to see a "finished" work. Preparedness still needs additional writing and a clear direction Read more

Quirky, Relevant

See it if You enjoy downtown theatre and poking fun at academia and its politics.

Don't see it if You want a tight, satisfying conclusion. The show has so much promise, but doesn't quite hit the mark in its final 2-3 scenes.

Innovative, Funny

See it if Nice surprise for a small off off Bway production. Cast was excellent. Dialogue very real. Some surprises and a good dose of humor.

Don't see it if you don't like to see characters arguing the entire time. But, you will laugh.

"Ultimately, though, Miller can’t resolve a central issue: Some of the professors’ refusal to undergo training is mystifying...Having painted herself into a corner, Miller can’t figure out how to end the play. So she gives Laurette, who is retiring, the last word in the form of an address to her students. It is a good speech, and a dodge."

"Still, Preparedness is clever, angry work, and it’s a fascinating companion piece to The Alchemist...down in their bones, these comedies feel the same way about bogus authority, about self-deception, and about dishonesty disguised as aid. I started the day believing that I was going to spend it laughing, and I did laugh — merrily at The Alchemist, bitterly at Preparedness."

"An incisive, if not groundbreaking, black comedy about workplace violence and robot cats."
