About the show

The Amazing Kreskin comes to Off-Broadway for a three-week residency showcasing his legendary you-gotta-see-‘em-to-believe-‘em mentalist abilities as a reader of people’s thoughts. More…

Marvel as Kreskin ascertains the suit and value of cards selected randomly by audience members. Watch in wonder as he displays his mental powers by reciting information written in secret by those in attendance. Kreskin will climax each performance of 'The Amazing Kreskin LIVE' with his signature piece, in which he requests that his check be hidden somewhere in the venue. If he fails to find it, he will forfeit that show’s fee.

Slow, Nostalgic, Entertaining, Dated

See it if Once you get past the self promotion and stories of Johnny Carson, the acts are pretty dazzling. He’s 80 something and deserves respect.

Don't see it if You have a hard time hearing about the days of old or don’t like mentalist acts.

Disappointing, Quirky

See it if you want to see Kreskin.

Don't see it if you want to see Kreskin at his best. He spent too much time reminiscing and too little time performing. He was very impatient and got upset.

Amazing!, Entertaining, Dated

See it if You want to see a living legend and one of the best mentalists Of this and last century.

Don't see it if He talks a lot about the good old days which makes this show over 2 hours no intermission. Still, it’s The Amazing Kreskin! He’s earned it!

Very disappointing

See it if Don't see it. The man is a shadow of himself and most of the 2 lengthy hours is spent in talking about past triumphs.

Don't see it if Very few routines, mostly talk, talk, talk.

Also The evening I attended, The Amazing Kreskin for a finale failed to fin... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Masterful, Riveting, Thought-provoking

See it if If you’re a fan & have seen or haven’t seen him, he’s best mentalist ever. At 83, his abilities still amazing

Don't see it if Not interested in mentalist, and have no interest In who Kreskin is & why still performing.

Also Much sel& promotion & nostalgia-fewer amazing feats make current perfo... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Dated, Slow, Overrated, Indulgent

See it if you're a fan of Kreskin or have never seen him before. My first time, so it was still worth checking out.

Don't see it if you don't have 2 hrs to kill. The show could have really been cut down to 1 or 1.5 hrs, if not for the nostalgic ramblings.

Also My 1st time seeing the infamous Kreskin. I would have really enjoyed t... Read more Read less

Slow, Disappointing, Excruciating

See it if you are a fan of Kreskin and would enjoy seeing him live; he pulls off a few remarkable feats of mind-reading, and works hard to entertain.

Don't see it if you have seen contemporary illusionists who have spoiled you with intense, outlandish and/or fast-paced feats — this show just limps along.

Also There is something sad and wistful in Kreskin's attempt to recapture a... Read more Read less

Disappointing, Quirky, Slow

See it if You like mentalism magic

Don't see it if You hate performers who spend at least 50% of the time name dropping.

Absorbing, Entertaining, Dated, Profound, Thought-provoking

See it if Kreskin is the first Mentalist - Carson, Griffin, Douglas - and STILL can AMAZE - his patter a bit old fashioned - nonetheless

Don't see it if 2 hrs - no intermission - you don't like "Magic" -

Disappointing, Slow, Dull, too wordy & boring

See it if You are a Kreskin Follower & like slow, wordy 1 man mentalist shows

Don't see it if You don’t like mentalists that are dull & talk a lot &/or Long shows with no intermission.

Also Lion Theatre on Theatre Row was quite nice with a busy bar & comfy lou... Read more Read less

See it if for lack of anything better

Don't see it if to long

Thought-provoking, Cliched, Clever, Entertaining, Quirky

See it if You're a fan of mentalism, Kreskin himself, or mind trickery in general.

Don't see it if You're looking for something edgy, groundbreaking, or innovative.

"Watching the mentalist at the intimate Lion Theatre feels like sweet Uncle Harry’s performing for the family or local, longtime Shriners...Every word of every anecdote has been related hundreds of times. Too much is about then and not now...Jokes are ba-dump-dump vaudeville. He’s genial but has ...
