After a late miscarriage and a hazy hospital awakening, Abby Wambaugh resolved to pursue comedy. In this solo performance, presented by Hannah Gadsby and directed by Lara Ricote, she experiments with 17 different concepts for a debut show. Blending absurd characters and inventive setups—such as “Old Man Learns Parkour” and an extended impression of the number nine—the piece moves through shifting comedy styles while also touching on themes of gender, pregnancy, loss, and creativity. Beneath the humor runs a reflection on beginnings that may never follow conventional arcs.
