Entertaining, Confusing, Disappointing, Clever, Absorbing

See it if Fun clever first attempt at this kind of mashup, but frayed around the edges and not scary or challenging enough.

Don't see it if It’s not really worth the price tag or commute.

Thought-provoking, Confusing, Disappointing, Dizzying, Ambitious

See it if you want to experience some immersive with horror of room escape kinda thing, but not too much.

Don't see it if you expect super real experience of horror. Kinda too short, not enough scenes to have extended meaning, immersive is still superficial

Theatre is Easy

"It begins horrifically strong, but ultimately loses its steam...I was a bit disappointed to find that 'This is Real' is ultimately just another escape the room...I had expected more variety. Instead, I was met with essentially two rooms, sometimes clunky special effects, and a brutal reliance on teammates too terrified to get anything done themselves...While in need of some rework, 'This Is Real' kept me engaged from start to finish...You'll get as much from the experience as you put in."

"A scary, heart-pounding experience that starts as soon as you approach the warehouse where it begins deep in Red Hook...After reading what was going to happen, I was already feeling my adrenaline start to flow and starting to worry...It’s easy to make a wrong decision or overlook something, and your heart is racing the entire time...It’s truly an engaging fun experience and I highly recommend it...A perfect terror for the Halloween season."

"It is terrifying, it is gross, and it is a lot of fun...A scary, serial killer-themed escape room...I was eager to experience this thrill ride...Outside my dark cell was a freakish torture scene so disturbing that I briefly put my blindfold back on!...You must make contact with at least one of the actors, all of whom remain frighteningly in character. And the closer you get to escape, the more eerie and physical it gets, as suspenseful music, voices, and flickering lights intensify around you."

"As close to real horror survival as it gets...'This Is Real' immerses you into a real-life horror film and tests your psyche, fear, and survival antics. It is the perfect horror bonding experience that gives you an adrenaline rush and makes you think what if?"

FanFest

"Theatrical immersion at its most visceral and thrilling....A dexterous blend of interactive theater with a complete story line, a mind-bending survivalist game, and a twisted version of hide ‘n seek...With a few more runs and tweaks, this could become one of the coolest experiences NYC has to offer. The actors in the experience are excellent, the sets are very realistic and the puzzles are logical enough that if you really try to tie them back to the overarching narrative, you’ll be able to."
