1970s suburban drinks spiral into chaos as Beverly’s party turns deliciously disastrous.
Set in suburban Essex in 1977, Abigail’s Party follows the confidently overbearing Beverly as she hosts what she hopes will be a sophisticated evening of drinks and socializing. Joined by her husband Laurence, their anxious neighbour Angela, her quiet spouse Tony, and the uneasy Sue from next door, the gathering begins with polite conversation, flowing alcohol, and nostalgic music. However, beneath the surface of cocktails and forced hospitality, tensions simmer. Awkward exchanges, class anxieties, flirtation, and strained marriages slowly unravel the evening, transforming a seemingly ordinary get-together into a painfully funny and revealing portrait of social ambition, loneliness, and suburban pretension.
