In 1977 Essex, Beverly’s cocktail party unravels into flirtation, disputes, and suburban chaos.

Essex, 1977. Beverly is throwing a party with drinks flowing, Demis Roussos playing, and cheese and pineapple sticks at the ready. The queen of her suburban semi, Beverly, and her husband Laurence welcome their new neighbors Angela and Tony for drinks. Sue from next door is also invited, but the real party is happening at her place where her teenage daughter Abigail's noisy gathering is in full swing. As the evening progresses, awkward small talk gives way to inappropriate flirting and marital disputes, turning the gathering into a social nightmare that’s hard to escape.

Mike Leigh’s tragicomic play offers a sharp look at social class, materialism, and sexual tension in 1970s England, making it a modern classic not to be missed.
