A lyrical hip-hop drama of love, loss, and justice in Chadwick Boseman’s Deep Azure.

In its UK premiere, Chadwick Boseman’s Deep Azure delivers a moving exploration of love, grief, and the pursuit of justice. When Azure loses her fiancé, Deep, to police violence, her life unravels as she and their friends, Roshad and Tone, struggle to cope with the devastating loss. Guided by Deep’s enduring presence and disrupted by the watchful Heavenly MCs of Street Knowledge, their search for healing takes unexpected turns. Inspired by the real-life tragedy of Prince Jones, infused with the rhythm of hip-hop theatre, and shaped by echoes of Shakespearean poetry, Boseman’s lyrical and urgent work unfolds under the candlelight of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.
