Lacked humour, Good villain, Positive messages, Audience interaction, Catchy score

See it if you enjoy catchy songs, nature friendly promotion, spreading kindness & a delightful ‘Winnie the Moo'

Don't see it if you are expecting humour, cheesy jokes, pranks, a spectacular exciting panto with glitz.

Absorbing, Cheap, Delightful, Confusing, Entertaining

See it if It was great, it had good songs and very talented acting. The audience interaction was amazing, with characters coming through the crowd.

Don't see it if It looked cheap even for a pantomime, the singing was just ok, and the sets are uninteresting. They use the same curtain for everything.

Time Out London

"If the show could really have done with a few more moments where it just goes nuts, it’s a decent effort from Jordan, and elevated as ever by the versatile Hyman: his songs this year range from a decent lovers rock knock off, to a song about being a villain stitched together from famous Hollywood villain themes."

“This may not be vintage pantomime but it’s warm-hearted, forward-thinking and genuinely reflects the community it was created for.”

“For panto we crave recognisable karaoke-esque sing-song, timely gags and crass humour. But this ‘Jack’ doesn’t quite climb to the required, glistening heights.”

London Theatre

“The book follows a timeless and wholesome morality tale that’s clearly signposted without being too preachy. What makes the show special is the original and full score by Robert Hyman (also co-lyricist) that moves the story along with songs written for the characters and embraces multiple styles – including contemporary musical theatre numbers, pop, rap and bhangra.”

“A massive hit with the children in attendance, this ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ may break little in the way of new ground, but a visit to Splatford is still a lovely way to spend a December evening (or afternoon!) with some great company to share it with. “

"It may not attempt anything new but there are eye-catching costumes, catchy songs, some sparkling performances and a droll script by Anna Jordan"

“Hyman’s eclectic score spans pop, swing, reggae and folk influences. The songs are all memorable and entertaining...It is void of Christmas references, but with a parting message of ‘love thy neighbour’, it will leave you warm and fuzzy.”
