A gossip-fueled Shakespeare comedy of rivalry, deception, and reluctant romance.
Set in Messina after a military victory, the story follows two contrasting couples: Beatrice and Benedick, who trade insults while resisting their mutual attraction, and Claudio and Hero, whose swift engagement is threatened by deception and public accusation. Misdelivered messages, deliberate trickery, and overheard conversations drive the action as reputations are tested and relationships are reshaped.
This production is directed by Chelsea Walker (All’s Well That Ends Well at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe). Music is by Angus MacRae, with design by Sami Fendall.
The production runs at the Globe Theatre as part of Shakespeare’s Globe season, with scheduled captioned, relaxed, British Sign Language–interpreted, and audio described performances throughout the engagement.
