About the Show

Laura Waldren’s award-winning debut play exploring life as an inpatient at an eating disorder unit.

Being a teenager & a forty-something, Sam and Zoe’s lives don't have much in common except for just a love of 80s’ new wave music, and an eating disorder. Thrown together in an eating disorder unit, they form a complicated bond. When another patient turns the ward into chaos, they face questions that could affect their futures, chiefly how can they navigate an institution that keeps them safe but unable to cope in the outside world?

'Some Demon' was the recipient of the 2023 Papatango New Writing Prize.

This production is recommended for ages 14+.

Relevant, Slow, Refreshing

See it if You want an insight on how it is to be inside an NHS unit for eating disorders. It's not just about patients but also how NHS is stretched.

Don't see it if You prefer a happy ending. This is hard hitting and makes you think about the ones who suffer.
