Lovely piano, Great writing, Great singing, Great acting, Enchanting

See it if You want love, laughter and joy. Appreciate diversity in a cheeky Shakespeare way which is well presented without over political correctness

Don't see it if You are strongly sensitive to the smell from aromatic candles. You'd better ask 'left' side seat as the aroma goes towards the behind piano.

Entertaining, Great staging, Funny, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if you’d love a perfectly cast and performed version of this Shakespeare comedy, in a gorgeous, intimate new theatre you’ll love.

Don't see it if you hate Shakespeare comedies, excellent acting, and leaving the theatre having found a new joy in humanity.

Exquisite, Refreshing, Great writing, Entertaining, Clever

See it if you are new to Shakespeare plays and would like a highly accessible show with a new take on on the classic romantic comedy.

Don't see it if you prefer a more "traditional" interpretation of the classics, or if you are expecting a read-through of the text or stunning scenery. Read more

Quirky, Slow, Entertaining, Delightful, Clever

See it if You like quirky Shakespeare! Much to love even for folks new to the bard

Don't see it if You are bored easily — it’s very intelligent and fun but very slow and long

The London Evening Standard
December 15th, 2022

"The atmosphere of Rourke’s production is autumnal. 'As You Like It' celebrates a retreat into sunlit rural simplicity, but there are as many references to frost as to spring in the text."

Time Out London
December 15th, 2022

" ‘As You Like It’ is a pretty weird play...Rourke’s production sacrifices a certain amount of clarity for in-the-moment entertainment. But I think that’s forgivable, especially when it looks and sounds as good as this."

The Guardian (UK)

"The speeches of love, friendship and loyalty between characters come with the physicality and intimacy of British Sign Language, as central to the drama as music and song."

"Josie Rourke’s staging of As You Like It, @sohoplace, demonstrates just how well suited this hip and happening upstart is to classical-theatrical revels."

"It’s a richly atmospheric setting for Shakespeare, generating the degree of intimacy that the Globe, with its relentlessly arch approach, seldom achieves nowadays, alas."

" 'As You Like It' is the first new production to come to @sohoplace, and it graces the space with its fresh approach. New thoughts for a new theatre feel like a good place to end the year."
