Set in the Montmartre Quarter of Paris at the turn of the century, a world of indulgent beauty and unparalleled extravagance, of bohemians and aristocrats, of boulevardiers and mademoiselles, "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" tells the fictional story of an ambitious, lovesick writer, Christian, and a dazzling, entrancing chanteuse, Satine. Their lives collide at the Moulin Rouge with its many characters including the host, Harold Zidler, the brilliant and starving artist Toulouse-Lautrec, the greatest tango dancer - and gigolo - in all of Paris, Santiago, the tempting Nini, and The Duke of Monroth, the wealthy and entitled patron of the club who thinks he can buy anything he wants, including love. Directed by Tony nominee Alex Timbers, with a book by Tony winner John Logan.
See it if A fun entertaining spectacle. Stunning sets and costumes. Karen Olivo was incredible. A tad hammy with some of the pop medley mashups.
Don't see it if You don’t like shows based on movies or with pop song scores.
See it if A show that is campy in first act and very serious in second act. A glitzy production.
Don't see it if Choreography that resembles MTV s . If you want a show with less bravado. It never gains the movie vibe with camyness of the first act.
See it if Lavish French dancehall nightclub spectacle with doomed romance & high production value at its coeur. Top 40 playlist. Luxe sets & costumes.
Don't see it if Jukebox. But whose jukebox?Vastly entertaining, but mind the bloat. As if trapped on a road trip w/ passenger w/ jittery fingers on radiodial.
Also "Shut up and dance/Gitchi gitchi ya ya da da/Ce soir"
See it if like big Broadway musicals.Or if you are over 30 and miss "our" music.Or if you want to see Burnstein,Tveit,Olivio at the top of their games
Don't see it if you want a serious story. This is a non-story.Nothing we haven't seen a zillion times before.Go for the music & the choreography--Brilliant!!
See it if a fan of the film or actors Aaron Tveit, Karen Olivo, and/or Danny Burstein; you want a spectacle loud and dizzying, risqué and raunchy.
Don't see it if you are uncomfortable with sexuality, expecting historical-accuracy of turn-of-the-20th-century Paris and bohemia, or need new music.
See it if If you hate theater you may like this soulless mess because it looks good but there is no there there.
Don't see it if You care about the future of American theater, because what this show represents - style over any dramatic substance- will kill theater.
See it if you want to see the biggest spectacle to hit Broadway in years. The entire design is gorgeous and the performances are fantastic. Go see it!
Don't see it if do not want to hear current pop songs on Broadway. It feels like a night club with a story at times but stick with it!
See it if you want great sets and costumes Fantastic dancing!! and don't need a real score. This is a mash up of every song you've ever heard
Don't see it if you like a musical with a coherent score and characters that are more than 2 dimensional
See it if Your primary reason to go is just to have fun. You love a mash-up. You want to catch Karen Olivo in dazzling voice.
Don't see it if You want a satisfying story or expect the emotional moments to land or if you hate a medley. The show is dense with them.
See it if you are wanting an extravagant, over the top production. Scenic and Costume designs are superb. Also, see it if you can get full view.
Don't see it if are expecting the movie. They made A LOT of changes to the film and not always for the better. Don't see it if you get partial view.
See it if You want an energetic show with amazing talent from the sets and costumes to everyone onstage.
Don't see it if You like quiet, simple shows
See it if A fun, fabulous, splashy, commercial hit, but needs some substance. Great staging!

See it if You want to have a fabulous time at the theater! Incredible staging, acting, singing, dancing etc... a must see!
Don't see it if You absolutely hate the movie it is based off. Hate the use of modern music in a period piece.
See it if You like the movie. You don’t mind pure entertainment. You want to see the best act two opener in broadway history.
Don't see it if You don’t like the movie. You want a carbon copy of the movie. The entire rearmezz is essentially partial view - heads up!
See it if You want to hear and see an extraordinary musical and visual spectacle, with some terrific voices and choreography.
Don't see it if you want to be deeply touched by the story of these ill-fated lovers. The show lacks emotion and chemistry between the two leads.
See it if You like pure spectacle, dazzling scenic design, lighting and costumes. It's quite beautiful but the melodramatic story bogs it down.
Don't see it if you want to feel drama: they concentrate on the simple, over the top and cliche story. Would have been better with an original score.
See it if you enjoy a large spectacle of a show...great performances and quite the dizzying experience!
Don't see it if you don't enjoy a large spectacle of a show!
See it if YOU LIKE Broadway spectacle. Amazing sets costumes and great numbers but it just felt empty. I must admit, I kept lookin at my watch.
Don't see it if Juke box musicals really annoy you
See it if you want something big and splashy using familiar pop songs. Or if you are an Aaron Tveit fan. A treat for the eyes and ears.
Don't see it if you need much plot or great music. The story could probably be told in about 25 minutes. And the music mostly fells like filler.
See it if You liked the movie. You enjoy shows that require minimum mental engagement and love pop rock medleys. Burstein is great as always.
Don't see it if You didn't like the movie and are not a fan of jukebox musicals made to look like La Boheme. It has tremendous production values & costumes.
See it if you would like to see a spectacle based on the movie but so much more staged.
Don't see it if You didn't like the movie and have no interest in attending musicals
See it if Non-stop high energy entertainment. Cast is great and staging too. Kept good parts of movie and updated the score. 100 if it were original.
Don't see it if You don't enjoy pop music culture, you need very high intelligence fare.
