Great writing, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if The acting is MASTERFUL! The entire cast!!

Don't see it if It’s a Chekhov play… almost not plot… deep characters… lots of talking… maybe is not your cup of tea…

Great staging, Great acting, Funny, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if You like Chekov, love Steve Carell or William Jackson Harper, or like stories about life outside of cities

Don't see it if You prefer older translations that focus more on the environmental aspects of the text.

High quality, Earnest, Modernized, Reimagined, Absorbing

See it if You’re open to reinventions of classics in the canon. This modernization works better than Sorkin’s modernization of Camelot at LCT.

Don't see it if You want to see a classic setting and hear Chekhov’s 19th century language. Read more

Absorbing, Ambitious, Great cast, Great writing

See it if Can a play about despair, existential crisis, & unrequited love be hilarious, engaging & captivating? Absolutely! See it!! It’s superb!

Don't see it if Chekhov’s writing & this great cast are a must see! This play has universal themes that we can relate to: love, ecology, & existential dread Read more

Hilarious, Great acting, Funny, Entertaining

See it if you like any iteration of Uncle Vanya. This was better than most and the funniest one I've seen.

Don't see it if you are expecting the usual, despairing Uncle Vanya. This one is lighter.

Uneven and underwhelming in emotional tone, Empty in physical and emotional spaces, Good cast, often misdirected, Thought-provoking, Decently entertaining

See it if you are a fan of any of the great stars or team at the helm of this cast; a fan of Anton Chekhov’s works; have read the play beforehand.

Don't see it if expecting a real hit and a full-out tribute to Chekhov’s original vision; will despise audiences who think this is supposed to be funny. Read more
