Kristin Hanggi stages Robin Schiff’s pop-driven reunion adventure with ’80s‑’90s flair.

In this musical adaptation of the cult film Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, two inseparable best friends return to their decade-old high school gathering determined to reinvent themselves and stun their former classmates. Armed with an ’80s‑ and ’90s‑inspired pop score, the story hinges on their hallucinatory confidence and a shared secret about inventing Post‑its.

The production features a book by Robin Schiff, the original screenwriter, with music and lyrics by Gwendolyn Sanford and Brandon Jay (Orange Is the New Black). Direction is by Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages on Broadway). Orchestrations are by Keith Harrison Dworkin (Emojiland), and it is produced by Barry Kemp, Stephen Soucy, Peter Schneider, Laurence Mark, and executive producer Showtown Productions, under license from Broadway Licensing/Dramatists Play Service

Starting previews on October 14, 2025, and opening on October 28 at Off-Broadway’s Stage 42, the production is the Off-Broadway premiere of the musical, following its developmental debut in Seattle in 2017
