In Here We Are, a group of impeccably dressed elites gather for what should be a flawless meal—impeccable service, exquisite taste, and excellent company. But as a series of bizarre disruptions unfold, their carefully ordered world begins to unravel. Inspired by the films of Spanish surrealist Luis Buñuel, this final work by Stephen Sondheim blends sharp satire with absurdity, as diners find themselves increasingly unmoored from time, space, and social niceties.

Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (Follies, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods) and a book by Tony nominee David Ives (Venus in Fur, All in the Timing), Here We Are is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Wicked). After its acclaimed world premiere in New York, this co-production between The Stephen Sondheim Trust and the National Theatre brings the musical to London for its highly anticipated UK debut.

The star-studded cast includes Tony winners Jane Krakowski (30 Rock) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), alongside Paulo Szot (South Pacific), Olivier winner Rory Kinnear (The National Theatre’s Othello), Martha Plimpton (Sweat), Richard Fleeshman (Company), Harry Hadden-Paton (Downton Abbey), Tracie Bennett (Follies), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story), and Chumisa Dornford-May (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812).

Bold, witty, and hauntingly relevant, Here We Are is both a farewell and a statement of artistic defiance—Sondheim’s last theatrical act served up with style, bite, and no easy resolutions.
