Emotionally engaging, Great acting, Great staging, Epic, Absorbing

See it if you want to see an edgy, epic Othello with strong ensemble performances; one which puts Othello's rise and fall centre stage.

Don't see it if you find sudden light changes difficult (there are a lot of sudden dark to flashing light transitions)

Great acting, Relevant, Resonant, Intense, Absorbing

See it if You like to watch a Shakespeare drama with solid acting unlike the genre and gender bending panto nonsense happening lately at the Globe

Don't see it if You are not into minimalist & brutalist stage productions. All the cast wear black clothes. Read more

Dated, Entertaining, Ambitious, Clever, Absorbing

See it if The two lead performances make this worth it, with minimal sets they elevate each scene.

Don't see it if The show uses the language of Shakespeare, which some may find hard to follow.

"Terera’s 'Othello' is pretty resilient. But his resilience is like a seawall – once it’s breached, it’s breached."

The Guardian (UK)

"It remains highly watchable and well-paced with good supporting performances...This is an Othello which feels unlike any other, its central figure a villain not a hero – a cleaning up of the play, indeed."

"For all its over-arching ingenuity, I found the ambience too remorselessly gloomy and divorced from tangible social context."

"It's an intense collapse, riding Shakespeare's language to find his own meanings, an extraordinary performance at the heart of a revelatory and relevant production."
