A musical adaptation of Dickens' coming-of-age story, following David from hardship to adulthood.
Adapted from Charles Dickens' autobiographical novel, Copperfield! follows David Copperfield from a difficult childhood into adulthood. David endures the cruelty of his stepfather, the harshness of schoolmaster Creakle, and the exhausting routine of a London sweatshop before encountering success, love, tragedy, and loss. Along the way, he meets Dickens characters including Aunt Betsey Trotwood, the Peggotty family, Mr. Micawber, Agnes Wickfield, Steerforth, Dora Spenlow, and Uriah Heep.
Jeffrey Scharf writes the book and songs, adapting Dickens' novel for the stage. Gabriel Barre directs and choreographs; his Broadway credits include The New York, New York Ballet and Amazing Grace. Sonny Paladino provides orchestrations and arrangements, with Broadway credits including The Heart of Rock and Roll, A Beautiful Noise, and The Outsiders.
Bobby Conte stars as David Copperfield, alongside Amelia Cormack, Jed Feder, Calvin Knegten, Kent M. Lewis, Kara Mikula, Miyuki Miyagi, Nancy O'Connor, Dan Piering, Aaron Michael Ray, Will Reynolds, Owen Squire Smith, Alexander Sovronsky, Erica Spyres, Andy Taylor, Cathryn Wake, Tatiana Wechsler, and Henry Witcher. The production features sets by Edward Pierce, costumes by Jen Caprio, lighting by Jeff Croiter, sound by Shannon Slaton, and hair and wig design by J. Jared Janas.
