Set in Belgrade in 1914, Archduke follows three impoverished young men whose hunger leads them into an unlikely conspiracy. When they are promised food—and a chance to alter the course of history—they are recruited to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The plot unfolds as a mix of absurdity and consequence, capturing the confusion and conviction of men poised to ignite a century of conflict.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Guards at the Taj, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), the play combines historical fact with sharp wit and psychological depth. The production is directed by Lyndsey Turner (The Crucible, 1536) and features design by Es Devlin (The Lehman Trilogy).
