'Standing at the Sky’s Edge' charts the history of modern Britain told through the stories of three generations over the course of six tumultuous decades.

Set to songs by Sheffield singer-songwriter Richard Hawley, 'Standing at the Sky’s Edge' explores the power of community and the notion of home.

The Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatre, Robert Hastie, directs this production, which transfers to the West End after an Audience Acclaimed run at the National Theatre in 2023. The show won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2022 and has also received the award for Best Musical Production at the UK Theatre Awards and the 2020 South Bank Sky Arts Award for Theatre.

Don't see it if You need the music to continue the plot of the story. As a jukebox musical, the songs didn’t carry the story forward, but I didn’t mind.

See it if You love a good love story and a bit of history! The stage was used dynamically and the cast were great at evoking emotion.

Don't see it if You're looking for pure comedy. The storyline is powerful and touches on many prevalent and still relevant issues that exist today.
