Set against the vibrant backdrop of Havana, Buena Vista Social Club is a new Broadway musical that chronicles the journey of legendary Cuban musicians from the 1950s to their remarkable reunion in the 1990s. The story centers on Omara Portuondo, portrayed by Natalie Venetia Belcon, and her fellow artists as they navigate the challenges of political upheaval and personal loss, ultimately coming together to create the Grammy Award-winning album that reignited global interest in Cuban music.
Directed by Saheem Ali, with a book by Marco Ramirez, the production features choreography by Patricia Delgado and Tony Award winner Justin Peck. The musical showcases a rich tapestry of Afro-Cuban rhythms, bringing to life classics like "Chan Chan," "Dos Gardenias," and "Candela."
