Kitty Bradley is a nurse and a clown who loves theatre. She's been a Show-Score member for six years.

Show-Score & Tell passes the mic to members of our diverse theatre-loving community - people from all walks of life, highlighting why theatre is so special to them, and why they keep coming back time and time again, in their own words.

"I'm a retired registered nurse. I was in nursing for 53 years. Now that I'm retired, I'm a volunteer clown.

During my last years in nursing, I was a rehab case manager. So I would go to the various hospitals and review patients who wanted to come to my facility to see if they met the criteria. And just to add some pizzazz and get recognition for my company, I decided to come in with costumes for all the holidays, like I’d dress all in red, or as a heart, for Valentine's Day. One year, for Easter, I came in as a scary bunny. Just before I left, for Halloween, I was a box of Crayola crayons.

Anyway, to make a long story short. One of the nuns at St. Joseph's Hospital said to me, 'You should be a clown.' Because they had volunteer clowns that would come to the hospital. I said 'I'd love to, how can I?'

I went to clown school for three months- every Monday - and then I graduated.

Then I went out clowning and it was a ball! We had such a ball.

I love live entertainment. There is nothing better. And every show has something that it can offer you. There’s always something wonderful that happens when you see live theatre.

This is funny- This was a show I got tickets for through Show-Score. It was Off-Off Broadway. And my girlfriend and I were drinking before the show. So we had a buzz going. And the star of the show, Gideon Irving, always went home with someone after the show. You had to raise your hand if you would take him home. I thought it was a joke, so, I raised my hand.

When the show was over – and it was really a funny show – I was leaving, and the stage manager says to me, 'Where are you going?' And I said, I was going home, the show was fabulous, I loved it. She goes 'No, you said you would take him home.' And I said I thought it was a joke. She goes, 'No, no, no, you have to take him home. He has no apartment or anything.'

And yes, he did come home with me!

I thought to myself, How bad could it be? He's an actor. And he has to work the next day. My girlfriend was furious.

It was a fun time, though! Everyone had a good time. It was a slumber party!

And then, my girlfriend and I, we both had to work the next day. So I told him, you know, I have to get up for work the next day. And he goes, 'Oh, what do you do?' And I said, I was a nurse, and he goes, 'Oh, my God, God help us all.'"

Kitty’s Recommendations

"I recently saw Some Like it Hot (86and its talented tap dancing cast. Lively, entertaining with a happy twist. MJ The Musical (86) was excellent – a beautiful story about Michael & The Jackson 5. Myles Frost was engaging & what a dancer!

Oh! And I want to add Kimberly Akimbo (88was a fun and hilarious, Jersey-centered show. Everyone needs an Aunt Debra! The cast was so great, a must-see!"
