What is a Social?

What's the Story?

Lincoln Center's musical from James Lapine and Tom Kitt imagines a group LCD experience shared between Cary Grant, Clare Boothe Luce, and Aldous Huxley in 1950s Los Angeles.

What else do I need to know?

  • We really encourage you to come by yourself if you can’t find a friend. The whole point of a “social” is to meet fellow Show-Score members who love theater like you do!
  • The tickets are non-refundable. We’ll assign the seats from the ones we bought. Each ticket price includes all fees.
  • A Show-Score Rep will be there to meet you. You’ll get an email in advance so you know who you’ll see there. No waiting in line at the box office!
  • We'll meet after the show. We will let you know the meeting place, and host the gathering. We will cover your drink (house wine, domestic beer, or soda).

If you’re interested but can’t make the dates, or if the seats are gone, please click the buttons above to join the waitlist or choose another date -- we’ll use that info to try and get more seats!

From the show:

It’s 1957. You are at a beautiful beach house overlooking the Pacific. You’re there with Cary Grant, Clare Boothe Luce and Aldous Huxley and they are on an acid trip. Together. That is the bold premise of the new musical, FLYING OVER SUNSET, written and directed by James Lapine, premiering at the Beaumont this spring.

Keep in mind that the drug was legal then and was suggested, or prescribed by doctors, as a tool for enhancing self-awareness and healthy psychological exploration. It is a known fact that these three extraordinary people did experiment, individually, with LSD on multiple occasions. It is only in Lapine’s brilliant imagination, though, that the three shared an LSD trip. At least as far as we know. They were all in and around LA in the 1950s... Who’s to say it never happened?
