Last Sunday, FringeNYC Festival ran its final (1,100th!) performance of its 20th anniversary 2016 season. The festival may have wrapped up, but our coverage of it has not! Today we're saying farewell with a final look at some of our favorite member reviews of Fringe shows. Hopefully you were able to catch one of the exciting new shows at the festival. But if you missed any, don't worry! There's always next year.

James B 6235 gave W.E.B. DU BOIS: A Man For All Times (FringeNYC) a 90

90
Absorbing, Funny, Great acting, Thought-provoking, Resonant
August 22nd, 2016

See it if You want to learn about someone well known but unsung in popular culture. An important account of what adversity a Human being can endure.

Don't see it if you feel the subject matter would make you so uncomfortable that you'd inadvertently ruin the experience for your fellow audience members.

Sue 5 gave Amelia and her Paper Tigers (FringeNYC) a 80

Clever, Delightful, Enchanting, Great staging, Original
August 26th, 2016

See it if you like clever, imaginative, children's theater that tells Amelia Earhart's story to a new generation.

Don't see it if you have no imagination or you hate children's theater. Am sorry I saw the last performance and not the first.

Angie A 6237 gave BREWED (FringeNYC) a 93

93
Ambitious, Absorbing, Intelligent, Great acting, Edgy
August 24th, 2016

See it if you like heady pieces that use extended metaphor and horrific imagery to explore the beauty and toxicity of familial relationships

Don't see it if you're just looking for something light and fun. This play has many very genuinely funny moments, but it is heavy and thought-provoking.

Laura J 6238 gave Becoming OCD (FringeNYC) a 95

Absorbing, Delightful, Clever, Enchanting, Entertaining
August 25th, 2016

See it if you are a compassionate human who finds value in being let into the inner worlds of others...

Don't see it if you have no heart or sense of humor

Amelia C gave GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS (FringeNYC) a 90

90
Funny, Edgy, Refreshing, Raunchy, Original
August 26th, 2016

See it if You'd like to see an amazing group of young women perform a raucous yet poignant play. If you like sex comedies and female empowerment.

Don't see it if You have an issue with explicit language or may be triggered by discussions of sexual violence.

Ryan C gave Bodies of Water (FringeNYC) a 90

90
Enchanting, Great acting, Intense, Resonant, Entertaining
August 25th, 2016

See it if You enjoy an enchanting night of storytelling and great acting that surrounds you like a humid summer night

Don't see it if You're looking for special effects and if you find character driven storytelling boring

Joe S 6235 gave CANADA GEESE (FringeNYC) a 85

85
Ambitious, Great acting, Profound
August 22nd, 2016

See it if you like a great story about hope and failure. About winning but still losing. About recognition but not getting what you deserve. Survival.

Don't see it if you really want to see some geese.
