Planet Connections Festivity 2018

The Planet Connections Festivity is a socially-conscious arts festival. The Festivity is designed to invoke the power of art in motivating philanthropy, community outreach, and social change. Planet Connections’s artists use their work to shed light on the causes that matter, while inspiring audiences to get involved. All of the participating artists raise awareness for an organization/topic of their own selection. Since its inception, Planet Connections has presented 233 full theatrical productions and 86 Staged Readings. 300 charities have benefited from Planet Connections artists.

A tale of greed, corruption, and revolution, '4 $tages' explores the fundamental issues plaguing the American political and economic systems – from wealth inequality to runaway imperialism – through 4 stages depicting how America got to where it is today, as well as the possibility of what could come next.

In 'Arabella,' Lloyd is the CEO of an oil company. His daughter Sophie is an environmental activist. Arabella is a Jacaranda mimosifolia, a sub-tropical tree native to South America. When Lloyd receives a letter from Arabella on the same day Sophie brings home a disagreeable guest, he begins to question the sacrifices he has made for his family.

John Wilkes Booth, a loyal Confederate, is joining his Union family in New York City in November 1864, on the Thanksgiving before the one and only performance in which the three brothers ever shared a professional stage, and before John Wilkes was permanently etched into history as the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln. Beliefs are challenged, histories intertwine, and deep family ties are strained and broken. Though set in 1864, the story could be set in our current time, in terms of civil strife, families torn over issues, and a country sharply divided.

This immersive dramatic spectacle created by conceptual-performance artist Roi Escudero, blends vérité, magic realism, surreal humor, and a persuasive visual art collage containing nostalgic music hits. Roi uses her background in visual arts and theatre to create immersive works on stage. It is a vérité tale told in the 11th Dimension by Artaud and the existential heroic beings of light, the Bubulinos. Through their travels across space and time, the Bubulinos struggle with the ephemeral and physical troubles of mankind’s present, striving to keep their “divine child” pure. In their quest to rescue the Bird of Truth the Bubulinos, guided by Artaud, will traverse The Inferno of today’s world ruled by the greedy witch Mrs. Mind. Dante and Vergil will help them to arrive at Paradise.

'Girl Inside the Mirror' dives into the subconscious of a Latin-American character who emerges from a complex society and a post-traumatic event. It is through a mirror that she enters into a parallel world; the core of her most vulnerable side, where all her ghosts and shadows from the past remain. It is now and only now where she can face them.

'Pregnant Pause' is the story of Essie, a New York actress who has to decide between giving birth to a baby with a serious genetic disorder or starring in her first Broadway show. Although Essie has mixed feelings about being pregnant, she warms to the idea, until she learns the baby has a genetic disorder. Haunted by her past, Essie examines her life’s work, worth, and the future of her family. 


This new drama sees six former friends looking back on their last days of college: the relationships, the heartbreak, and the one night that changed their lives forever. Part of the 2018 Planet Connections Festivity.

Casmir, a screenwriter, has sold the exclusive rights of his screenplay to a sleazy Hollywood producer. He confesses what he has done to his cousin Salvatore, a hit man for the mob. The screenplay, a bio-pic, contains truths about Sal’s father that are more than incriminating. Enraged, Salvatore vows to get the screenplay’s rights back to Casmir even if it means eliminating the producer. The two cousins are forced to deal with issues that tore their family apart and drove them to be who they are: one an artist, the other a ruthless killer.

The Queen orders her children Prince and Princess to find spouses. They use the ancient method of shooting an arrow in order to locate their soul mates. The Princess’ arrow hits a frog that is really a man under a spell. But the Man Frog has a pessimistic outlook on love and marriage and is not willing to marry the princess. Matters complicate as the royals cannot agree on a solution and the local witch loses her temper and turns everyone into frogs.
