Castillo Theatre
The Castillo Theatre was established in 1984 by a collective of political activist artists. Privately funded from the beginning, Castillo's work features improvisation, the works of the late Fred Newman and of German avant-gardist and Brecht protégé, Heiner Müller (among others), and youth productions. It serves as a multi-racial home for Black theatre, and since 2007, has enjoyed a producing partnership with Woodie King, Jr.’s New Federal Theatre.
